Sussex Police Ride Along Scheme
The Ride Along Scheme gives the public an opportunity to accompany police officers as they carry out their day to day duties. Similar schemes across the county have enhanced the public’s understanding of the challenges faced by operational officers and participating officers have also benefited from spending time with the communities they serve.
The Ride Along Scheme was piloted in Crawley from 30 November 2014. Sussex Police are now in a position to offer opportunities to ride along across the wider force area. If you are a Sussex resident and would like to enquire about the Ride Along Scheme, please complete the online application form.
The Sussex scheme also provides an opportunity to incorporate the Best Use of Stop Search Code of Practice, where members of the public are given an opportunity to see stop and search in action and give feedback on stop and search activities. This will enable the police to gain valuable feedback from the community and improve practices, where appropriate.
