Why is REBOOT needed?
REBOOT works with 10-17 year olds where a risk of that young person being drawn into crime and violence has been identified. Risk factors could include (but are not limited to) non-engagement with school, missing episodes, being part of a peer group coming to the attention of police, harmful risk taking, alcohol or drug use, and aggressive behaviour.
Young people are increasingly vulnerable to becoming involved in crime and violence, and due to its close proximity to London, young people in Sussex are particularly exposed to being exploited by gangs running county lines.
In 2019 in Sussex, 21% of suspects/offenders of serious knife offences and 17% of victims were 18 or under, as were 25% of suspect/offenders of knife possession offences.
