The power of sport
REBOOT promotes sport as a diversion right from the outset of the programme. Sport is a positive activity, useful for developing resilience and enhancing protective factors.
Evidence shows that participating in sport can improve people’s mental and physical health, and behaviour, and help reduce reoffending by providing a route into education and employment.
Albion in the Community
REBOOT works in partnership with Albion in the Community who use the power of football and the brand of Brighton & Hove Albion to deliver high quality, accessible opportunities that improve the health and wellbeing, education and aspirations of young people. Their Premier League Kicks Project provides free weekly term-time football sessions to young people aged 12-18 throughout Sussex. The sessions combine free football with workshops and lifestyle advice in subjects such as domestic violence, anti-homophobia, anti-racism, substance misuse and road safety. Participants are also able to access valuable mentoring support and volunteering opportunities.
REBOOT works in partnership with Active Sussex who has been able to bring local partners such as Freedom Leisure and Wave Leisure in to the programme.
We are now able to offer access to leisure facilities to young people, thereby using the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives.
During the Covid19 crisis REBOOT has also worked with Active Sussex to provide FREE online sports sessions to young people and their families. Check out some of the fun activities on offer from the safety of your home below.
As lockdown restrictions begin to ease, REBOOT and Active Sussex are working on what sport and leisure activities can be provided for young people in the short and longer term.
