At this month’s Performance & Accountability Meeting (PAM) Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) Katy Bourne will ask Chief Constable Giles York, what his reaction was to the recent announcement on police budgets and what it means for Sussex residents.
Sussex Police are working with businesses to crack down on crimes in shops.New business wardens are being launched as a pilot in Littlehampton and Eastbourne to help reduce crime affecting shops and businesses in the towns. It is hoped business wardens will also be extended to Bognor Regis and Arundel during the pilot period.
Responding to the Chancellor’s Comprehensive Spending Review announcements today (Wednesday 25 November) Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne said the protection of the policing budget was a very welcome recognition of the vital work of the police in keeping the public safe.“This announcement delivers some much needed stability for police forces in England and Wales at a time when public reassurance is critical. For the individual police officers, I also hope that it demonstrates how highly regarded they are.”
A new websitewww.safespacesussex.org.ukhas launched improving direct access to help and support for victims and witnesses of crime in Sussex.The site, developed by the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Sussex, provides an online directory of local specialist support services as well as information about different types of crime and what happens at each stage of the criminal justice system, helping to ‘demystify’ the process for people when they may be at their most vulnerable.
